On 4/28/2014 – I had a good golf game in my quest to become a scratch golfer. Okay, I shot a 55 on 9 holes, which isn’t great but still an improvement for me at this time because this score was legitimate and not “I took so many strokes this hole I might as well cap it at double par.”
I made some smart moves in club selection, but fell apart around the green in particular on the 2nd hole. Got a triple there. My putting wasn’t bad – I’d say 6 out of 9 holes were 2 putts so that is an improvement.
My drives were very good except for the 5th hole.
The swing thoughts that worked for me today were:
- Line up my inner right foot perpendicular to the target.
- Tall spine angle
- Lean to the right
- Thumbs to the sky
After that, I just swung. But I know I will get more distance if I moved my left hip first on the downswing.
So next time I play golf and practice, I will keep these swing thoughts in mind. My goal with practice is to do 5 pitching shots in a row, 5 hybrids in a row and then 5 shots with the 9.
