There have been a lot of debate as to whether golf is a game or a sport.  It really don't matter to me but wheter it is a game or sport the fact remain it is strenuous if you walk a typical 18 hole par 72 course.

You really need to be in good shape if you plan to walk just nine holes which average about 2.5 miles for the low handicap golfers.  Typically you can expect to walk approximately five miles for 18 holes for the low handicappers and  approximatley seven miles for everyone else who does not hit straight done the fairway or do not spend a lot of time looking for lost golf balls.

If it is a lot of work for you to walk or if the course is hilly then you may want to consider riding if you want to enjoy the game because it will most certainly become a mind game if you cannot keep up with the pace of the group and not be concern of the flight behind you.

Don't assume you can always ride so be sure to excercise outside of golf as instruct by your physician to ensure you can have an enjoyable round whether walking or riding.
